WOLOF MISSION

In 2019, God put it on our hearts, as a church, to reach the unreached and make the name of Jesus known to those who have never heard the Good News. After much prayer and research, Christian Life decided to adopt an unreached people group called the Wolof.

ABOUT THE WOLOF

The Wolof are a large ethnic group of Islamic people with a population of close to 16 million. Most are located in the West African countries of Senegal, Gambia, and Mauritania. Despite their large population, they still predominantly live in small villages of about 100-150 people led by a village Marabout, a muslim religious leader.

 OUR MISSION

We have partnered with New Generation and Younoussa Djao in a 3-5 year project of reaching the Wolof people. While COVID-19 has made it difficult for us to send a team at this time, there is already a team that has been built there and they are already reaching the Wolof people! (Keep reading for testimonies.) Christian Life has committed to sending $20,000-$25,000 per year to help raise up churches, leaders, and disciple converts.

PROGRESS UPDATES

Since our initiative began in May of 2019, here are some HUGE WINS to celebrate:

  • Total Number of Churches Planted: 15
  • Total Number of Disciples: 125

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

While we are currently unable to send a team to Africa, we are committed to sending finances to continue the work that has already been started! Our yearly goal is $20,000-$25,000. We would love for you to prayerfully consider how you can partner with us in getting the Good News of Jesus to the Wolof!

TESTIMONIES

"I want to thank the Lord almighty for what He has done for me through the [Disciple Making Movement (DMM)]. I am a Wolof by tribe, coming from Islam background. My small sister was sick for some months, we took her to the hospital, they did test on her, but they did not see any trace of sickness in her so; we decided to go our usual way, which is marabou, we went to the marabou man and he gave her some liquids to rub and drink, she did it, but this time around it failed. We now gave up on her, just waiting for her to die. But as God could have it, one of our friends introduced us to their DMM group, we were willing to attend the meeting, to God be the glory, when we went there, the reception was overwhelming. After the DMM they told us to wait for prayers, which we did, but before they prayed for us, they asked us if we know Jesus the answer was no, so they encouraged us to accept Jesus as our Lord and Personal savior, which we did willingly after which they prayed very seriously for my Sister. To God be the glory my Sister now healed and not only that, we happy because we have been saved our eyes have open to the truth and we now live in the light."

"I want to thank the Lord almighty for what He has done for me through the DMM. I am a Wolof by tribe. I was born in Casamance, came from an orthodox background, all we do is idol worshiping, At a Young age my mum took me to our priest (idol worship), to be an understudy to him, but because I was very small, I did not know the consequences until when I was 18 years, the old man now told me that very soon I will be his successor, this made me to go and asked my mum what is happening and why me? My Mum told me that she went there for prayers and she took a vow that if they gave her any child, she will bring the Child back to the temple of the idol, so that is why she did so I was so afraid and confused and so decided to seek help for myself, during seeking help for myself, I ran into a man called Sanunu Barry, who told me that it will be well with me, and everything will be over if only I receive Jesus as my Lord and personal Savior. I was so eager to receive Jesus and confess Him as my Lord and personal Savior. After which he prayed for me and told me not to be afraid, because the idol man told me that he will made me mad if I refuse to serve in the idol temple. To God be the glory, I am still alive and I am one of the leaders now in training."

"I want to thank the Lord almighty for what He has done for me through the DMM. I was a Wolof by tribe, coming from the Islam background. All we know and do is Islam. But when I came in contact with Sanunu Barry, he told me that he too was a Muslim before and he explained to me how he was saved and how he is enjoying the peace of being a Christian. That he gave his life to Jesus, because He is the only way to eternity and He is only true God, who dies for our sinsAt the beginning it was very hard for me, but through the DMM studies, I started to believe that indeed Jesus is the Savior and that He is the light of the world, so I gave my life to Christ, and I am going to be baptize this month January 2021."
